We had an amazing time at the Grand Canyons. Sorry the pictures are out of order. Some are from my moms camera and some are from mine.
The house you see was built by a man who lead groups of people down into the canyon. He stayed at that house until people would come for the tours. Its called Hermits Rest. The mans nickname was Hermit because he lives up there year round.
We stayed for the sunset. It was pretty cold but it was beautiful!
The Grand Canyons are amazing. It just blows my mind how huge they are and that our eyes can see all the way across. At one area you can see over 60 miles away to another mountain range in the distance. Its beautiful!
Of course I made Deric dress up with me again! Luckily I married an amazing man who totally loves to get into the holiday spirit with me!
Finding a costume this year was a little harder. I really wanted to be Jessie and Woody from Toy Story and have Diesel be Bulls eye the Horse but I couldn't find a costume I liked. So instead we were Popeye and Olive Oil!
Sorry the picture isn't the greatest! But you get the idea.
We went to our Wards Trunk or Treat. It was so cute! Lots of adorable kids and lots of fun games! I was really worried that not a lot of the kids would know who we were, but to my surprise a couple little kids knew. A 3 year old actually started singing part of the Popeye theme song! I was very impressed! Good job Buzz Light year!
We bought a ton of candy and still have about 10 lbs of candy left. I really am hoping we get lots of trick or treaters' come to our house on Monday night or we are going to have loads of candy left. We stocked up at Costco.
We decorated our trunk at the party tonight and won Most Playful. We had a little bubble machine by our candy and it mesmerized every kid under 4 and even some teenagers. We had one little girl just sit down in front of the bubbles for a good 5 minutes. I asked her if she wanted any candy and she totally ignored me! It was so cute.
I started making that quilt I have on about 4 years ago! I bought the jelly roll of fabric from Moda in Seattle and was SOO excited to start making it when I got home. Well, I started and got like 4 or 5 of the rows sewed down and then I got busy and then got engaged and then married, and really that quilt wasn't even on my mind!
But my amazing mom finished it for me and just brought it down with her! Its so perfect for our new couch and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors!!
But seriously isn't Diesel just the cutest!! He is so sweet and cuddly!
I just finished my 2nd quilt top with my new sewing machine! Can't wait to finish it while my mom is still here visiting! I can't show pictures till its done cause its for a good friend of mine!!!
We are off to the Grand Canyons in the morning. I can't wait to see the beauty up there. It will be all of our first times going.
Last weekend for our 3rd wedding anniversary we headed up to Sedona, Arizona to slide on some rocks!
I didn’t take any pictures of us at Slide Rock because the camera would have gotten soaked. But we had a blast! and I was SUPER sore for about 4 days after!
That is what it looks like! The water was SOOOOOOO cold! But it was a blast!
After we got done there we headed into Sedona to do some sight seeing!
The best way to see the most beautiful parts of Sedona is to go on one of the jeep tours they offer there! It was the best thing we did! We learned a lot about the area and saw some amazing views of the Red Rocks and the surrounding area!
The pictures are all out of order! But you can see the amazing beauty that is Sedona!
Can you find these in the pictures???
1. A family of Indians
2. Kissing Rocks
3. Antique Graffiti
4. Cow Pie
5. The Best Smell in the world! Well that isn’t a very fair question! The pictures with the gray rock and trees is a little waterfall. In that area the wind comes down and gives an amazing breeze and with that breeze is the best smell ever! Its so fresh and smells like pine. I could have stayed in that spot the whole time! It was SOO refreshing!
The view at the top of Schnebly Hill was amazing! Sedona is in the foreground! It took about 45 minutes to get to the top! But our awesome driver of the jeep took some time to explain things to us!
You can drive this road by your self and it would be amazing, but the road is SUPER rough and we learned SO much by being driven around with our tour guide!
We had a great anniversary! I can’t wait to go back to Sedona and slide down the rocks again and see the amazing red rocks! It truly is beautiful there!!!
I guess I better get used to this place! Its going to be our home for the next 5 years!
We did some decorating today! I am IN LOVE with this little project!
I got the window a couple years ago in Spokane at the Farm Chicks show and had it up in our previous house, but decided a couple days ago that I wanted to make it look like a shelf! and I have to say it looks amazing and we built it our selves!!!!
Diesel is getting used to the new apartment. Now that he knows we aren’t just leaving him here by himself. When we first moved in he would freak out every time we left. Now he could care less. He loves being able to look out on the road below us and people watch.
The sunsets in Arizona are amazing! I took this one a couple weekends ago in the car on the way home from Derics grandparents house! One amazing perk of living in a hot place is amazing sunsets and amazing lightning storms!!! We have seen about 5 good storms come through in the 4 weeks we have lived here.
That song from Allen Jackson has been playing for the past 2 weeks on our local Phoenix country station. It really has made me think lately about 9/11 and the impact it has had on our lives!
I remember like it was yesterday where I was when the world stopped turning!
I was 14 years old and started my second week of school as a Freshman.
I had gotten up pretty early to get ready for Early Morning Seminary which started around 6:45 I believe.
I had just finished getting ready and turned on the TV as I ate my morning cereal.
I turned to channel 4 which was ABC in Spokane,WA.
I turned the TV on right when the second plane hit the tower. At first I thought I was watching a preview for a new movie that was coming out but after a couple seconds I realized it wasn't fake and that our nation had just come under attack.
I was in complete SHOCK and ran to my parents room to wake my mom up to tell her what was happening. I turned on the TV in her room and watched in horror at the site I was seeing on the TV.
To be honest I had no idea what the World Trade Centers were, I didn't know what terrorism really was, I didn't understand the severity of what just happened.
At school later that morning we were able to watch a few more minutes of the new coverage but our teachers at Greenacres Junior High made us turn it off.
I will never forget the feelings of that day.
I can't believe its been 10 years.
I am PROUD to be an American.
I support our Military, Police officers, Fireman and all people who work for this amazing nation!
I WILL NEVER FORGET!
May we never forget the Heroes who went down in the Pennsylvania field and saved so many lives! I am so proud to be an American knowing that there are people like those men who took over the plane from the hijacker that day in Pennsylvania! and those who died at the Pentagon. May we never forget!
We have lived in Arizona 17 days now.
The heat is going to kill me!!!!!!!
It has been 99 degrees only one day since we have lived here. The rest of the time during the day its over 110!!!! WOW!
I am the kinda person that LOVES the gloomy cloudy days! I love rain! I love having my windows open in my house and letting the cold air outside in.
I can't do that here! I am so afraid of what our air conditioning bill is going to be! We have it set at 80 but it feels like it is always running!
Deric is doing great in school! Its keeping him pretty busy! I got a job cleaning someones house 4 hours a day! I pretty much do the same things I was doing as nanny just without the kids. Its nice to go to work only 4 hours a day and just clean by my self! No interruptions! and by the time I am done with work its only 1 and I have the rest of the day with my husband and time to organize my house and make it look more like a home!!!!
I think once the weather cools down and I can go outside more without dying of heat I will like it here more.
One thing I do love here is the amazing sunsets and lightning storms! They are amazing!
